Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday said the state government will extend all help to the 10,323 teachers, who were terminated from their job due to a Supreme Court order.
In a setback to the state government, the apex court on March 29 had upheld a Tripura High Court order terminating the jobs of 10,323 teachers and asked the state government to initiate a fresh recruitment process by May 31.
“The matter was today discussed in the meeting of the council of ministers, which observed that the judgement was unexpected,” Sarkar said.
“The state government is concerned about the future of the teachers who are affected by the court’s order and reaffirms that all possible steps shall be taken to protect the interest of those who have served the state with their sincerity and dedication,” he said.
The apex court order also said the new recruitment process has to be completed by December 31, strictly adhering to the guidelines of NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Training). “If the terminated teachers can’t be given jobs in the fresh recruitment process, then alternative ways will be found to protect their interests,” Sarkar said.
In the mean time, the Left Front-ruled state government on Wednesday constituted a three-member Pay and Pension Revision Committee for giving recommendations for revision of existing pay structure of state government employees and pensioners. (PTI)
