SHILLONG: South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Cyril Diengdoh, who took over as GHADC administrator, will soon pass the vote on account of the Council for three months.
After GHADC CEM Denang Sangma resigned on March 30 in view of the no-confidence against him, the House could not pass the Budget. Later, the State Government recommended administrator’s rule.
District Council Affairs Minister, Prestone Tynsong, said on Saturday that the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner has just taken over and within a few days, the vote on account for three months will be passed.
Earlier, in 2011, following the crisis in JHADC, the Deputy Commissioner had passed the Budget.
According to Tynsong, after the passing of the vote on account, whichever group has a majority can be invited to form the Executive Committee.
An official source said the next step will be to fix the date for the election of CEM in the House which will be scheduled by the Governor based on the recommendation of the District Council Affairs Department.
However, the task ahead for the new Executive Committee of GHADC will be difficult due to the mixed reactions from various quarters on the Garo Customary Bill passed by the ousted NPP-led Executive Committee.
There is a call for further debate on the Bill before sending it to the Governor for his assent.
Majority of GHADC MDCs wanted a fine-tuned Bill, and not the one which was passed.
