SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of a complaint lodged by two villagers of Mawsynram in East Khasi Hills and asked the director general of police to inquire into the alleged police excesses.
Obinest Rodborne of Syntein village and Pynskhemlang Rodborne of Lyngkhom village complained that police were looking for their nephew in a case but when they did not find him, they picked up the duo and harassed them.
The human rights commission sent a notice to the DGP asking him to initiate an inquiry by an officer not below the rank of deputy inspector general of police and submit the report in 30 days.
