Grand council of chiefs to meet at Asananggre

 TURA: The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya constituting the Federation of Khasi States/Ki Sirdarship/Ka Dorbar Ki Dolloi and the Council of Nokmas is being hosted at Asananggre on November 14th immediately after the 100 Drums Wangala festival at the same venue with a makeshift and permanent structures erected and facilities arranged thereon.

As many as 2000 delegates from the respective chiefs from Khasi and Jaintia Hills and several thousand Nokmas from Garo Hills are expected to participate in the chieftains meet.

Dignitaries from inland and abroad are also expected to attend thegrand council. Preparations for arrangement of security,entertainment, logistics are already underway for the meet.

The grand council last met at Lumjingsuk, Jingkieng Demthring,

Shillong on September 21 this year. The Asanang Grand Council of

Chiefs of Meghalaya is expected to be a headway for the chiefs in

addressing the issues in common as another august convention.
