KHADC House panel starts fund misuse probe

SHILLONG: The House Committee constituted by the KHADC to inquire the misappropriation of Rs 2 crore has started its probe.
The committee is headed by Congress MDC Mansturdy Nongrem and has UDP MDC Teinwell Dkhar, KHNAM MDC Adelbert Nongrum, HSPDP MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew and senior advocate V.G K Kynta as members.
Sources said the committee will ask for documents from the KHADC EC to inquire the alleged fund misuse.  The probe panel, which was constituted during the recent budget session of the council, will meet again on March 9. The members will submit the report within a month following which the EC will examine the matter and convene a meeting.
Earlier, the inquiry committee set up by the KHADC EC to look into the misappropriation had in its report stated that then secretary to the EC W. Syiemlieh was responsible for the anomalies.
The probe panel comprised S. Kharsyiemlieh, Judge of the District Council Court and S.B Laitthma, First Class Magistrate of the District Council Court.
