SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said in the Assembly on Friday the government is in the process of reviving fast track and special courts and strengthening police stations in the wake of rising crime against women and children.
Replying to the discussion on the Governor’s address, Sangma admitted that the police all these years were not provided the right kind of legislation mandate that will be solved with strengthening of the State Police Act.
The chief minister, however, said the slew of measures that the government is taking would take time to yield results.
Sangma also asserted that the government would come out with a mechanism to regulate all hotels, guest houses and resorts in the city and that “the matter was also reviewed”.
