JOWAI: A construction worker in Nartiang village was arrested by the local police for allegedly marrying a minor girl.
The accused, Md. Abdul Hakim Ali, married a 16-year-old girl, a student of Class VI at Ramkhrishna Mission Secondary School, Nartiang. Police arrested the accused on Thursday after receiving a complaint from the headmaster. Nartiang police have registered a case under Section 6 of the POSCO Act and the accused was handed over to the women’s cell of Jowai police.
