Kohima: The Hills Area Truck Owners’ Association (HATOA) Assam, has threatened to go ahead with their strike for an indefinite period if demands are not fulfilled immediately.
The organisation has suspended movement of truck from Assam to Ngaland on NH 16, connecting Amguri(Assam) with Mokokchung, since October 17 and placed some ‘essential demands’ before the Mokokchung district administration.
According to official sources here today, the HOTA, in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung yesterday, said repairing of roads being carried out currently was ‘not satisfactory’ and demanded the DC to direct responsible officials to do the needful soon so trucks could ply smoothly.
The association also urged the Deputy Commissioner to direct the official responsible to comply with ‘device rates of freight’.
In case of any road mishaps involving trucks, the HATOA said the final settlement should be made between the district administration and the association.
It further stated that some people were demanding ‘gunda tax’ from the drivers on the Mokokchung-Zunheboto road; the association demanded that such activity be stopped.
It also demanded that ‘no entry’ for Mokokchung town zone should begin at 0830 hours. (UNI)
