SHILLONG: The House Committee constituted by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) during its budget session is likely to submit the report on the alleged misappropriation of funds on Thursday.
The Committee has suggested a special House session for tabling of the report.
Unwilling to divulge details of the report, Chairman of the House Committee, Congress member Mansturdy Nongrem said the report would be submitted either on Wednesday evening or Thursday and “it is up to the wisdom of the Chairman (L.G Nongsiej) whether to convene a special session”.
Hinting that the probe panel found several anomalies, Nongrem told reporters,    “We cannot disclose anything as the inquiry report is the property of the House. The Committee will place the report during the special session and everything will be clear.”
He said the Committee met five times to discuss the matter and it also sought advice on legal matters from senior advocate VGK Kynta.
When asked on the differences in its findings and that of the earlier inquiry committee constituted by the Executive Committee of the KHADC, he said differences are inevitable but he refused to make further comments.
Following an inquiry report that found misappropriation of around Rs 2 crore, a House Committee was constituted earlier this month with Nongrem as Chairman, M. Kharkrang, KHADC Joint Secretary, as member secretary, and HSPDP MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew, KHNAM MDC Adelbert Nongrum and UDP MDC Tienwell Dkhar as members.
