SHILLONG: The Assembly on Friday amended the Meghalaya Tax on Luxuries (Hotels and Lodging Houses) Act, 1991.
As per the amendment, if a dealer does not pay the full amount of tax payable under the Act by the due date, a simple interest at the rate of 2 per cent per month from the date of issue of this notification will be charged “on the amount by which the tax paid falls short of the tax payable”.
For that purpose, the existing provisions of the Act was amended by insertion of new section 15 (a).
