SHILLONG: The driver and handyman of the oil tanker sustained burn injuries in the massive fire that erupted in Nongrim Hills on Friday evening.
Police said on Saturday that the oil tanker (ML-05E-7180) caught fire at Baman Service Station, Nongrim Hills, and one scooter (number not known) was gutted while a Maruti van (ML-05E-7180) was partially damaged in the incident.
Police have started investigation into the matter.
DGP SB Singh said that a follow up action has been sought from the police on the issue.
Residents of Nongrim Hills were a worried lot on Friday evening as a fuel tanker carrying 18,000 litres of fuel caught fire while it was stationed at a petrol pump in the locality.
It took nearly four hours to bring the fire under control.
