4 KHADC staff suspended for graft

SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has suspended four employees, including a plantation chowkidar, for their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of Council funds to the tune of Rs 34 lakh.
The fund was part of the 50 percent share of the Council in the royalty on major forest produces from non-forested areas.
The officers who have been placed under suspension are Deputy Chief Forest Officer M. Lyngdoh, Chief Forest Officer T. Saiborne, Under Secretary to the Executive Committee Baniwell Lyngdoh and plantation chowkidar Franklin Khymdeit.
KHADC chief executive member P.N Syiem later said a one-member team of Additional Judge of DC Court E.L Marten has been constituted to probe the matter.
