SHILLONG: The entire Garo Hills plunged into darkness on the eve of Diwali, the festival of light, on Tuesday due to disruption of power supply.

The power supply tripped at around 10 am on Tuesday following a technical snag in tower line between Mawlai and Nongstoin. The power supply is likely to be restored on Wednesday, sources said.

Also the entire BSNL network – broadband, internet, cellone and STD — collapsed in Garo Hills on Tuesday.

The communication disruption was attributed to the damage of underground fibre optic cables during widening of road between Anogre and Jengjal in Garo Hills.
