Teacher trampled to death by wild elephants

SHILLONG: A teacher was trampled to death by a herd of wild elephants in West Garo Hills on Saturday evening. According to villagers, Taher Ali Sheikh, who taught Hindi at Kukurmara Higher Secondary School in the district, was trampled to death as the elephants destroyed the tempo in which he was travelling.The incident took place near Gaptuli village under Nidanpur outpost when the teacher was returning from Tikrikilla.The deceased man is a resident of Fekamari under Hatsingimari in South Salmara district of Assam.
