MLA demands to declare Namsai disturbed area

Itanagar: Namsai MLA, Nang Sati Mein, on Wednesday demanded for declaring her constituency as disturbed area.

Raising a calling attention notice in the State Assembly today, she drew the attention of the state government on the deterioration in law and order problem in the state.

Stating that the people are living under fear psychosis particularly in Namsai constituency of Arunachal Pradesh, Nang Sati mentioned about the Maoist threats, kidnap and murder of Sunanda Manpong, a contractor on September 21 last in Lekang circle of Lohit district, besides the recent attack on the pride of the state, Everester Tapi Mra, and gunshots fired on youths at Senki View here.

In the absence of the Home Minister, Takar Marde, chief minister Jarbom Gamlin informed the House that the state government was fully aware of the law and order problem in the state and steps were being taken to post adequate police personnel at Lekang.

Regarding the presence of Maoist, the chief minister told the House that one person had been arrested, an anti-dam element but the locals were not involved.

Gamlin said the Senki View incident was being investigated and expressed hope of arresting the culprit in the next few days.

Joining a short duration discussion on Hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh and its impact on socio-economic welfare of the state, initiated by the Mebo MLA Ralom Borang, the chief minister Jarbom Gamlin thanked him for expressing concern on various issues in connection with the hydropower projects in the state.

Mr Gamlin informed the House that there were certain procedures and technical bottlenecks like CEA clearance, environment clearance etc which delay the start and completion of projects in time. (PTI)
