BSF seizes cattle in border, 4 Bangladeshis held

SHILLONG: The BSF has seized large number of cattle at zero line even as the force effected the arrest four Bangladeshis immigrants in separate incidents.
The BSF troops deployed at Ringthingpara, Lukaicharand Gopinathkilla,  South West Garo Hills foiled the forced attempt of smugglers and prevented 96 cattle being smuggled to Bangladesh on Tuesday.
Similarly, in another incident, the BSF personnel deployed at Lyngkhat, East Khasi Hills seized 20 cattle while being smuggled to Bangladesh.
The price of cattle has gone up in recent months after the BSF checked the illegal supply channels to Bangladesh.
To prevent trans-border crimes, the BSF had sought the cooperation of local police to enhance joint efforts against the cattle smugglers.
Last week, the BSF troops had seized 282 cattle, around 185 Cft wooden logs, 316 bottles of liquor, 7 kg of ganja/hemp and other contraband items worth more than Rs 23 lakh in as many as 44 incidents.
Meanwhile, the BSF troops deployed at Baghmara, apprehended  three Bangladeshi nationals at Baghmara market while they were moving in suspicious condition.
They were identified as Md Rukoddin (18) resident of Shibganj, Sharif Miya (15) and Md Ridul Islam (16), both residents of Bana Kanda, Durgapur, Netrakona district.
The BSF seized 800 Bangladesh Taka from their possession.
In another incident, BSF troops deployed at Lalghat, SWKH apprehended one Bangladeshi national identified as Md Zuwel Miya (20), a resident of  Lalgaht,Tahirpur,Sunamganj, while he was infiltrating into Bangladesh.
