SHILLONG: Amid media reports that suspended Congress party member and KHADC chief executive member P.N Syiem has registered a political party, Syiem said on Monday that he was yet to take any decision as he was still a Congress member.
As per media reports, Nongkrem MDC H.S Shylla had said Syiem had secretly registered a new regional party, the People’s Democratic Front (PDF), with the Election Commission of India, and that he was not paying attention to the affairs of the District Council.
However, in his response, Syiem said, “Though I was suspended from the Congress, I am still a Congress member.”
According to him, the decision whether to continue with the Congress will be taken only in June.
Asked whether he had registered any political party with the EC, Syiem said he was yet to approach anyone in this regard. “But I cannot say whether anybody else had approached the EC.”
