SHILLONG: Though two different groups in Mawlai are demanding the setting up of the block at two different places, the Community and Rural Development Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar has said that the department will take a call which will benefit the new block.
“ Mr A or Mr B may say anything but we will take our call accordingly and everything will be done systematised,” Dhar said on Saturday.
In a twist to the site selection for Mawlai Community and Rural Development Block, the Mawlai Town Dorbar has opposed the suggestion of headmen of five villages to set up the block at Mawsiatkhnam citing that it is not centrally located.
Earlier, the representatives of five villages– Mawsiatkhnam, Umrynjah, Madan Mawkhar, Nongkohlew and Umprew, led by Mawlai MDC PT Sawkmie had handed over a letter to the Director of the C&RD supporting the move to set up the Block at Mawsiatkhnam.
Reacting to a query, he said that the entire process of making Mawlai as C&RD block is under process and the block will be  created shortly.
Earlier, Mawlai MLA Embhahlang Syiemlieh, who led a delegation of the Mawlai Town Dorbar  to a meeting with Minister in-charge C&RD Sniawbhalang Dhar had said the latter has assured that the Mawlai Community and Rural Development will be made functional by April after finalisation of the land for construction of its office.
Mawlai, which came under the jurisdiction of Mylliem C&RD Block, is one of the four new C&RD blocks announced by the State government last year.
