Two EKH villages declared ODF

SHILLONG: Khrang and Pdei-Puhbsein villages under Khatarshnong block in East Khasi Hills were declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) by Sohra MLA T.W. Chyne on February 10.
Khrang has also received the Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) which included a cash prize of Rs 1, 50,000, from PHE department, Rural Circle.
Chyne called upon the villagers to collaborate for the upliftment of the society. He added that despite the financial constraints faced by the State, the government has been able to repair the road from Mawjrong till Mawthawtieng and constructed a 3-km road from Itthangsher to Warwar.
Chyne assured the people that he will pursue with the state government the issue of construction of road at Kongthong and Jakhur villages.
He also promised to install solar street lights in some villages and the construction of a football ground.
Khrang and Pdei-Puhbsein villages are around 24-km from Mawjrong along the Mawkdok-Khatarshnong road.
