SHILLONG: The Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) K Durga Prasad laid the foundation stone for the administrative block and officers’ mess of the North Eastern Sector headquarters here on Tuesday.
Speaking to media persons after the function, Prasad informed that the CRPF established its North Eastern headquarter in the city way back in 1976 and the force has always cherished its long association with people of Shillong.
The CRPF chief further said that the forces’ officers and men have been striving hard to serve the people of the North East and many of its gallant officers have laid down their lives fighting insurgents and anti-national elements for establishing peace in the region.
Speaking about the prevailing situation in Meghalaya, he said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that violence in the State had come down significantly and the situation was steadily improving.
