SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has once again reiterated its opposition to uranium mining in the state and criticised the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council and the Uranium Corporation of India Limited during the tenure of H.S. Shylla.
The KSU has asked the KHADC executive committee led by PN Syiem to scrap the MoU without further ado.
Meanwhile, the FKJGP expressed shock over the developments in the KHADC vis-à-vis uranium mining, stating that the MoU and the No Objection Certificate issued to UCIL by the KHADC was against the will of the people.
The association further asked the KHADC chief to constitute a CBI enquiry over the alleged misappropriation of Rs 36 crore given by UCIL to KHADC.
