Specially abled students celebrate National Science Day

Shillong: Specially abled students of Jyoti Sroat Inclusive School under Bethany Society, Shillong joined the rest of the Nation in celebrating National Science Day as part of the week long celebrations. The theme of this year Science Day is ‘Science and Technology for the Specially Abled Persons’ and to commemorate this, a special programme was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) East Khasi Hills in collaboration with Bethany Society on Bethany Society Campus, Laitumkhrah.
Hands on training and demonstration on the concepts and importance of a nutritive kitchen garden was given by the officers of the KVK. Speaking in the inaugural session of the programme, C. Noronha, Executive Director Bethany Society stressed on the need of incorporating science and technology concepts for inclusive development of the specially abled students.
Further, I. Kharkongor, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK East Khasi Hills stated the objectives and brief history of the programme and motivated the students on practicing vegetable gardening in their kitchen garden. The National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28 and programmes are held during the week by various departments.
