SHILLONG: UDP MLA and general secretary of the party Jemino Mawthoh said  the attacks on fellow UDP member and Nongkrem MDC HS Shylla during the recently concluded budget session of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) were too personal.
He expressed concern over the unruly scenes and uproar the House witnessed involving Shylla and KHADC CEM P.N. Syiem besides other members of the ruling People’s Democratic Forum.
“With regard to moving the no confidence motion, the party had left it to the wisdom of the MDCs. Shylla had to find an alternative to discuss many things in the House, and the only way was to go for  a no confidence motion,” he said.
The legislator added that the no-confidence motion provided an opportunity for the  members to discuss varied subjects and the purpose was not to oust the CEM. The no confidence motion was moved by Shylla to get the details related to various scams plaguing KHADC.
“As members of the ruling party, we have every right to know the truth and question if the administration is wrong. We want to get to the bottom to dig the truth,” he said.
