MBoSE taking utmost care to check question paper leakage

SHILLONG: More students will appear for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSLC) and the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSSLC) this year as compared to the previous year, said a senior official of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE).
MBoSE Deputy Chairman M. Marbaniang said the number of SSLC candidates is 52,100 and that of HSSLC candidates is 35,171. The number of Arts, Science, and Commerce and Vocational candidates in HSSLC is 26,890, 3,803, 2,294 and seven, respectively.
“Last year there were 50,126 SSLC candidates and 26,959 HSSLC candidates in which the number of candidates appearing for Arts was 21,183, Science 3,586 and Commerce 2,184,” said Marbaniang.
SSLC and HSSLC will start from March 2 and March 3, respectively.
Marbaniang told The Shillong Times that there are 111 centres for HSSLC and 134 for SSLC.
He said the board is taking all measures to ensure that question papers are not leaked. The question papers will be kept either in police stations or banks under double lock, the deputy chairman added.
In 2015, science and technology question papers for Class IX internal examination were leaked. The board, which helps in framing question papers for internal examinations, had to reschedule the exams.
“Dispatching of examination material started two weeks ago and the exercise will complete tomorrow (February 28),” Marbaniang said, adding, “The officer in charge of the examination centre has been instructed to cross-check the question papers with regard to question required for the centres. If there is any shortage of any subject, they are instructed to inform the authorities immediately.”
