NONGSTOIN: The Sub-Divisional School Education Officer (SDSEO) of Nongstoin, E. Marngar on Wednesday, called a show cause notice against two teachers who hold dual post.
The dual post holder case in West Khasi Hills came into light, when Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) of Lailyngdoh area unit filed an RTI.
Fulbackstar Shangrit, president, HYC, told media persons that they have learned that Michael Thongni a teacher of United Christian U.P. School, Byrki Mawthung, also teaches in Marshan Nongrim RCLP School under West Khasi Hills District, while Carlius Paliar who is a teacher in both Marshan Nongrim RCLP School (West Khasi Hills District) and Upper Primary School Pyndenkseh Sepngi of (South West Khasi Hills). “The villagers complained about the teachers as they were failing to perform their duty.” Shangrit said.
The teachers due to over burden of dual posts, used to hire people to teach when they are absent. The students were affected by it and which is why an RTI was filed in the office of SDSEO, the HYC president said.
Shangrit said that even though the schools are not fully government but they receive government fund.
The council on Wednesday met the SDSEO of Nongstoin and urged him to take immediate action against the teachers where Edward Marngar (SDSEO) also agreed.
