Conrad places demand for Dhubri-Phulbari rail link

SHILLONG: A delegation of the Dhubri-Phulbari Rail-cum-Road Bridge Sangram Committee led by Tura MP Conrad K Sangma on Thursday met Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and submitted a memorandum demanding a rail-cum-road bridge over the river Brahmaputra connecting Dhubri of Assam and Phulbari of Meghalaya instead of the proposed road bridge.
The Union minister appreciated the timely proposal and assured the delegates that he would look into the demand.
Besides Sangma, the members of the delegation included ex-MLA Dewan Joynal Abedin, Surot Jaman Mondal, Azhar Hussain, Kantimoy Deb and Sahajahan Islam.
