Indian Ambassador to Myanmar visits Assam Rifles

Shillong: Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Vikram Misri visited Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles at Laitkor, Shillong on April 14 and 15.
He is on a two-day tour to Shillong, where the Headquarters of Assam Rifles, the force guarding the Indo-Myanmar border is located.
He had earlier visited the four North-Eastern states – Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram – sharing international border with Myanmar.
The visiting dignitary was briefed on the operational and administrative aspects of the force with regard to the Indo – Myanmar border and also had a long interaction with Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Director General of Assam Rifles.
He complimented Assam Rifles for its exceptional performance in guarding the Indo-Myanmar border and for rendering yeoman service in the most challenging and inhospitable terrain of the North East . He exhorted them to continue the good work of maintaining peace and tranquility in the North East region.
