SHILLONG: The Joint Action Committee of All Teachers Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) has threatened to agitate if the Government fails to announce salary hike of ad hoc teachers by Wednesday.
JACATAM chairman E.D Nongsiang said teachers will wait till Wednesday after which the association will announce “mass agitation”.
The association is demanding 100 per cent salary hike for ad hoc teachers of pre-primary, lower primary and upper primary schools, including Hindi and 4th teachers, effective from September 2016.
Asked about JACATAM’s future course of action, Nongsiang only said the members have already met to discuss this.
JACATAM leaders staged a one-day hunger strike last week.
Nongsiang said though the Government has assured that the service rules will be completed by March and their national pension is under process, teachers want the Cabinet to immediately approve the 100 per cent salary hike demand.
The LP, UP and Hindi teachers get Rs 6,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 3,500, respectively.
