Sub Junior national football: Meghalaya beat Delhi 4-0

SHILLONG: Meghalaya made winning start to the U-14 Sub Junior National Football Tournament beating Delhi 4-0 in Kerala on Tuesday.
The State colts dominated proceedings from the word go and scored the first goal in the 16 minute when Fairlystar Suting netted of a rebound strike by Glenny Lynrah. The Meghalaya boys continued to maintain momentum and were relentless in their approach.
Keeping the lion’s share of the possession meant that the second goal was always round the corner.
A minute before the half hour mark an overlap run by Lastborn Mawphniang set the ball perfectly for Fairlystar who tapped the ball in for the second goal.
Crossing over Damaitphang Lyngdoh made it 3-0 in the 56th minute to virtually push Delhi out of the contest. Later super sub Damanbha Kharthangmaw who wasted a few chances, got one into the nets towards the fag end of the tie to ensure a comprehensive 4-0 win for Meghalaya.
