Inter School Cricket: BSF, K.V. Upper Shillong post victories

SHILLONG: BSF Secondary School got the better of Tender Child Secondary School by a huge margin of 97 runs while K.V. Upper Shillong found luck on their side in a rain-affected match of the U-18 Senior category of the Inter School Cricket Tournament 2017 at the cricket ground here on Wednesday. In the first match BSF Secondary School posted a total of 177/8 in 25 overs after electing to bat first. Aman Kumar scored 54 runs while Sandeep Kumar contributed 31 runs for their team. Ahmed Qureshi and Rohit Kumar Rai claimed two wickets. In reply Tender Child Secondary School were bowled out for 80 in 18.3 overs. Ramesh Sharma hit 43 runs for his team. Ranjan Kishore Yadav claimed 4 wickets for BSF School. In the second match of the day, Gorkha Patshala School batted first and posted 142/5 in 25 overs. Anone Ram scored 37 runs and was ably supported by Mukesh Kumar Ray with 35 runs. Deebakar Baishya took 2 wickets. In their chase K.V. Upper Shillong reached 55/4 in 9.5 overs when rain halted play. The match was later awarded to K.V. Upper Shillong by virtue of their better run rate as per D/L method.
