SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma met members of the ad hoc teachers’ body on Tuesday and assured them that the government would hike their salary.
B.R Thabah, president of the All Meghalaya Ad hoc Upper Primary Teachers’ Association (AMAUPTA), said on Tuesday, “All these years, we have been waiting for the government and the enhancement proposal has already been considered by the government. On his (the chief minister’s) part, he has clearly assured that he will raise salary of all ad hoc teachers.”
The chief minister has told the association that the amount of funds with the exchequer will be taken into account.
Thabah said ad hoc teachers of secondary and higher secondary schools have got 100 per cent hike and “we are hopeful that our salary will be similar to others”.
There are over 800 ad hoc schools in the State and Thabah has urged all the teachers to cooperate with the association.
“We have a definite path to walk and will not take to the streets. We will take the peaceful route,” he said.
