Kohima: The first phase of the public campaign against crimes, chiefly kidnapping, extortion and all kinds of illegal collection rampant in Dimapur, have been held with the message intended for the parasitic individuals and groups, who have chosen to live off hardworking people, while giving nothing in return, but anguish.
The huge rallies of on Saturday in Dimapur were the outcome of the much publicized ‘public seminar’ of October 1 held at Dimapur to discuss and bring about a workable mechanism to address the burgeoning rate of anti-social activities in Dimapur.
The rally received quite a positive response from the people, irrespective of communities. Led by the Dimapur Naga Council, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives from an array of civil societies, the rally traversed all the municipal wards of the town and beyond.
Showing their solidarity towards the movement, public from the respective wards and localities lined important intersections and even decrepit alley ways, ready with messages put up on placards.
Unlike other protest rallies, when people are coerced out of their homes to congregate at the town centre, this time the campaign is intended to be taken to individual homes, while creating awareness. (Agencies)
