Agartala: After getting three integrated parks-food, rubber and bamboo, Tripura is all set to have another Integrated Park for promotion of textile.

If everything falls in the right direction, an Integrated Textile Park will come up along with twenty more such parks across the country with the Centre giving it nod on it.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Industries and Commerce Minister Jitendra Chaudhury said that the project which is a promotional scheme, will facilitate twenty-one integrated textile parks across the country.

Implementation of all these parks is scheduled to be finalized by the next thirty-six months. Though there are proposals of setting up 55 such parks across the country, twenty-one parks will be floated in the first phase to promote textile.

“The textile park is a bit different from the Mega Food Park, Rubber Park or Bamboo Park which became operational in the state beforehand.

The centre will call as initiator for special purchase vehicle companies as joint venture initiatives for the textile park where a minimum of three companies would have to be present as starters.

Other companies can participate later on”, said Chowdhury adding that the state government would demarcate required land for realizing the project.

“The issue of land demarcation, finalizing other aspects of implementation is likely to be raised in the next cabinet meeting. A subsidy of Rs. 40 crores would be allowed to each state where the project can be implemented according to prescription of the concerned Ministry”, he said.

Hosiery, silk, apparels and garments, carpets would be included among the commodities to be traded in the textile parks. Congratulating the centre for taking this initiative, the minister said that this effort would make way for huge employment scopes for people of the state.
