SHILLONG: The Frontier Headquarter, Border Security Force (BSF) has rebutted the allegation levelled against it by the villagers of Nongtyngur village near Pynursla.
The villagers recently expressed their resentment against BSF patrolling near the Wah Rymben river where womenfolk of the area take their bath.
On an enquiry into the matter, the PRO, BSF has clarified that the allegations as leveled are devoid of facts and made with a motive to malign the image of the BSF.
The BSF temporary check post is established near Rimasar Bridge on Pynursla-Lyngkhay road, which further leads to the border area.
“In fact the placing of mobile check post near Rimasar is to control the movement of illegal items including cattle towards border area.
Moreover, this has been done in consultation with local police and custom. This axis has been the main corridor for cattle smuggling to Bangladesh.
Establishing a check post is helping in preventing the illegal move of cattle towards the border and further smuggling them to Bangladesh, which affect the local smugglers,” said the PRO in a statement issued here.
