BSF apprehends opium smuggler

Guwahati: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF) deployed under Sector headquarter Falakata (WB)
apprehended one Indian opium smuggler with 580 gms suspected raw opium from the vicinity of Mathabhanga Railway Station, under Cooch Behar district of West Bengal.
The Intelligence branch of BSF received specific information about the possibility of opium dealing in Mathabhanga area under District Cooch Behar .
Accordingly the team intercepted an auto rickshaw bearing Reg No. WB 63-A-2812, in the vicinity of the suspected area. During search, the team found a plastic bag containing a packet wrapped in polythene. After unwrapping the packet, the team found a sticky raw opium like substance, which was brown in colour and weighed 580 gms approx.
The team also apprehended the suspect from whose possession the bag was recovered, namely Hussain Sultan (49 )from Abbas Ratanpur village under Mathabhanga police station in Coochbehar along with other items.
The suspect along with seized opium was handed over to PS Mathabhanga, WB, for further legal action.
Besides, BSF troops of Guwahati Frontier also seized 37 cattle heads worth about of Rs 1,30,530 on Sunday.
