Tripura Guv for joint effort against border crimes

 AGARTALA: An Indo-Bangla joint effort is needed to combat cross border crime in Tripura, said Governor Dr DY Patil. He was speaking at the two-day conference of Governors that ended on Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi.

Patil added, “it is very difficult to find out the criminals in border states as they can cross the border after committed crimes”. He opined that a joint initiative covering bordering districts would highly be appreciated for tackling such menace.

On law and order issues, Patil said, “TSR posts have been operational in the interior parts and border villages. But during rainy season, air-service is necessary to maintaing the vigil”.

He mentioned that insurgents had been operational using Dhalai and North districts as corridor. “For this, high-tech monitoring system should be introduced besides early complition of border fencing works”, the Governor added.

Patil laid emphasis on the use of modern technologies for increasing crop productivity and improving rain-fed farming. He also requested the union government to introduce National Food Security Mission here.

The role of Governors in the context of the Fifth and Sixth Schedules of the Constitution, Patil listed out the functions of TTAADC and state government as well. He also praised the state government for empowering anti-ragging committee in each education institutions as laid by the union government.
