India’s sports minister Vijay Goel visits Salt Lake stadium

Kolkata, May 5 (UNI) Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel today expressed
satisfaction over the progress of
work of re-modification of galleries and improvement of ground
condition of Yuba Bharati Krirangan or
Sale Lake Stadium, the venue World Cup under-17 final in October, 2017.

The India’s sports minister, accompanied by the state minsters, and
officials of the AIFF, IFA, SAI
and other experts visited the Salt Lake stadium to witness the
progress of work for the
mega event to be held between October 6-28 in six venues of India.

Besides the final play, Salt Lake Stadium will host the maximum number
of matches.

Kolkata will host one round-of-sixteen tie, one quarter-final, a
third-place game and six Group F matches,
the allotment made by a FIFA committee under Tournament Director
Javier Ceppi, who visited the stadium

The global football governing body- FIFA – already announced the
iconic Salt Lake Stadium
will host the final of the U-17 World Cup on October 28 while the two
semi-finals will be held
in Guwahati and Navi Mumbai.

There will be 24 counties will compete for the World Cup under 17 in
six Indian cities.

Group A will play in Navi Mumbai, Group B in New Delhi. Goa will host
Group C and two round-of-16 matches and one quarter-final,
while Kochi will take charge of Group D, one round-of-16 tie and a
quarter-final.

Group E matches will be in Guwahati with one-round-of 16 tie, one
quarter-final and one semi clash.
