Govt proposes new agri delivery model

TURA: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said on Tuesday agricultural missions should be designed in such a way so as to make farming attractive.
Addressing a gathering at a function on agri-horti mission and new delivery model at Dakopgre in West Garo Hills, Sangma said the main objective of any programme is to achieve the desired results that are visible on the ground.
The government is set to launch the Agri-Horti Mission in the state with 13 focused missions under it through direct mentoring delivery mode and 3,00,000 small farmers and agri-preneurs are expected to be impacted through this programme. The chief minister called for aggregation of approach to make agri-horti and livestock missions really effective and remunerative for farmers.
Chairperson of Meghalaya Resources and Employment Generation Council, Dikkanchi D. Shira, Co-Chairman, State Development Reforms Commission, Sengman Marak and Commissioner and Secretary, C&RD and Deputy CEO, MBDA, P. Sampath Kumar were present at the meet.
On creating brands and stories like Chibinang for pineapples and Mangsang for rice as suggested by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi, the Chief Minister laid stress on scouting for potential entrepreneurs.
