SHILLONG: Members of the Students’ Bar Association (SBA) at Shillong Law College met the examination controller of NEHU on Thursday over the delay in results.
In a statement to the press, Peter A. Dohkrut, president of SBA, said the authorities told them that the result of regular students was declared early but that of the students who appeared for back papers is still pending.
When SBA said the examinations were held five months ago, the officials at NEHU told them that the results will be declared within the coming week.
The Joint-Registrar and other staff of NEHU were also present at the meeting.
Besides late results, SBA also flagged students’ resentment over marking.
Dohkrut said many students are unhappy with the marks allotted even after the evaluation and are not satisfied with their performance.
In this connection, 12 students filed an RTI on Thursday before the Joint-Registrar (NEHU).
Dohkrut said the controller admitted that the culture of awarding marks in NEHU is very unfortunate and depressive, especially for those who are capable and competent and that this matter should be taken into consideration by professors and others who correct examination papers.
He added that the association will meet the controller again. SBA threatened to resort to legal measures to deal with the matter.
