SHILLONG: The State Disaster Management Plan will be released in Shillong on Friday.
Informing this here on Thursday, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said the plan has extensive guidelines on how the State should deal as far as disaster management is concerned.
The plan will be released by the Minister in charge, Revenue and Disaster Management, R.C Laloo.
Denying the reports that the government does not have funds for disaster management, Sangma said the guidelines are set on how the disaster fund should be utilised and the fund cannot be deviated for other purposes.
In case of any disaster, the district administration would have to file FIRs and inform the State and the Centre about it after necessary assessment is carried out, he added.
At present, funds for beneficiaries are distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and there may have been some instances where compensation to disaster-hit people was delayed, the chief minister said.
