SHILLONG: The inaugural function commemorating the annual International Nurses Day was held at Jarain PHC (Community Hall), Amlarem Sub-Division on Friday. The programme was organised by the Trained Nurses Association of India, Jaintia Hills Unit.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Stephanson Mukhim was present at the programme as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he emphatically said that to be a nurse by profession is not always easy as one has to deal with the health of people. “The life and health of many who are suffering depended on their hard work and dedication.” Mukhim added.
The International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on May 12 each year coinciding with the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
