Shillong Secretariat: (Take 1) — Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma says Government will partner with students of Classes IX and X to spread the message of energy conservation in Meghalaya. “Students are the best ambassadors of goodwill if we are able to rope them in as stakeholders of the state and its energy sector,” Dr Sangma said.
(Take 2) — Switching to the next point, Dr Sangma said the aim of his Government is to convert half of Meghalaya’s farmlands into fields for organic crops. “We are in the process of registering such organically grown crops. These crops grown from organic manure will be our brand equity and the farmers will gain immensely from the premium prices that the crops will fetch,” the CM said, adding that Government will use all available technology and marry it with indigenous wisdom to arrive at the desired results.
(Take 3) — Meghalaya’s Year of the Youth – 2012. To kick off this event the Chief Minister said his Government would announce Meghalaya’s comprehensive youth policy which will be formulated after having taken the views of a cross section of youth in public hearings across the seven districts.
