SHILLONG: An inquiry has been demanded into the alleged supply of library books and other facilities to a ghost school in a village in Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills.
According to a concerned resident, a toilet was all that stood in place of the Upper Gillagora LP School which, nevertheless, was availing several facilities.
In a letter to the Director of School Education, the resident, Sanggra M Marak, hailing from Gillagora village, demanded an inquiry into the supply of library books to the non-existent Upper Gillagora L. P. School. According to the resident, the Directorate of School Education, has been supplying library books to the school since 2011.
“There is neither a school managing committee, nor a headmaster or teaching staff in the school,” Marak claimed adding that other benefits including mid-day meal should be stopped immediately.
According to Marak, some groups with vested interest have been receiving all the funds for various schemes in the name of the school.
He reiterated, concerned authorities should immediately look into the matter.
