State Govt allots land for Dawki ICP

SHILLONG: The State Government has allotted 2.9 hectares of land for construction of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Dawki. Confirming this, an official from the Commerce and Industries department said that the land was handed over on March, 2010 to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, for setting up of the ICP at Dawki.

“This is a Central project and our job was only to allot the land. A DPR has to be prepared by the Union Government following which the construction will start,” the official said.

The Union Government is planning to construct 13 ICPs, including the one at Dawki, and has earmarked Rs 635 crore as an initial expenditure under the 11th Five Year Plan. The said ICPs are coming up under the Border Management Division, Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The official informed that such ICPs are designed with all modern state-of-the-art infrastructures with facilities for land customs stations, migration checking office among others.

Among the facilitates available are internal and external services, systems and equipment, security wall/fencing and security gates, accommodation for local police with rooms for women squad, buildings for forest, narcotics and drug control, postage and telegraph, barrack, ATM facilities, telecom and animal quarantine building among others.
