SHILLONG: The National People’s Party (NPP) has expressed happiness that several senior Congress leaders are willing to join the party.
The statement comes after media reports said some ministers and MLAs are contemplating joining NPP.
Party leader James Sangma said NPP stands for good leadership and understands the aspirations of people and “the party is happy that some leaders are showing keen interest in associating with NPP”.
He, however, did not mention any name.
Stating that the party is working on its mission documents, besides reorganising the party at the grassroots level for the 2018 elections, Sangma said the issue of the chief ministerial candidate will come at a later stage.
“Right now we are identifying and selecting candidates in every constituency and the question of CM candidate will come in the next phase,” he added.
