SHILONG: The absence of former East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal in the court has prompted the Special Judge dealing with the ILP-related case to defer it further.
An official source said for the second time on Tuesday, Goyal, who is one of the government witnesses, did not appear before the court and the reason is yet to be known. Earlier on April 25, Goyal missed the hearing.
Those who were present during the hearing on Tuesday were CSWO, SSSS and AIGU.
The Government had filed the damage suit of over Rs 31 crore against as many as 14 pressure groups who had sponsored the agitation demanding implementation of ILP over three years ago.
The Special Court is currently gathering evidence from government witnesses. Former East Khasi Hills police chief M. Kharkrang was cross-examined in the court on March 22.
