TURA: After rumours about the “forced injection drive” in West Garo Hills village schools, Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi has clarified that no permission for such injections has been issued to anybody either by the district administration or the District Medical and Health Officer.
Over the last few days, some Facebook users have been posting updates about forced injections in several Garo Hills villages, especially in Purakhasia and the plain belt areas. Some children have taken ill after the injection, the posts claimed.
While some dismissed the postings as rumours, many had insisted that such incidents were actually taking place in several villages.
Bakshi said, “Rumour is spreading in Purakhasia and the plain belt areas that injections forcefully administered to schoolchildren are making them sick. This is for information of all that no permission has been given by the authorities concerned for such injections to take place.”
Bakshi also urged people to immediately inform the authorities if such incidents take place in the district.
