Glowing tributes paid to Pt Nehru on death anniversary

Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) Glowing tributes were paid to Pandit Jawahar Nehru, the first Prime Minister and the founder of the modern India on his fifty-third death anniversary here today.
A simple and solemn function was organised at the Punjab Congress Bhawan, which was presided over by the PCC president Sunil Jakhar.
Paying tributes to Pandit Nehru, Mr Jakhar said it was because of the great progressive, secular and liberal vision of the first Prime Minister that India today is the world’s largest and successful democracy.
“When we look around and see the strife in other countries, we appreciate the vision of our great leaders like Pandit Nehru, who bequeathed great traditions of democracy and secularism to us”, the PCC president said.
Not only did Pandit Nehru lay the strong political and democratic foundations of the country, he also scripted all inclusive development raising the living standards of millions and millions of people across the country.Had it not been Pandit Nehru, India might not have progressed in all fields like economic, scientific, agriculture and democratic, Mr Jakhar said.
