NONGPOH: The chairman of the Dorbar ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi criticised the deputy commissioner’s statement on land acquisition.
Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner C.P Gotmare had said land for the Byrnihat railway project in the district has been acquired as per the Land Acquisition Act, 1984, and there was no need for a no objection certificate from the district council. He had added that for the project from Byrnihat to Shillong, the new land acquisition clause was invoked and hence there is a need for NOC.
Speaking to the Reporters here in Nongpoh, Chairman of the Durbar ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi District, C.B Syiem, who is also the former CEM of KHADC, said the land acquisition act of 1984 is repealed in 2013. Condemning the recent KSU attack at Ronghuna, Syiem said the violence took place because the State did not pay heed to the demand for measures to stop influx of migrants into the state.
