NONGPOH: The Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) has expressed concern over the day-to-day affair in the district after the railway project attack and pledged “full cooperation” in making the silver jubilee celebrations in the district a success.
Speaking to newsmen in Ri Bhoi, Bipul Thangkhiew, president of RBYF, said the recent violence by KSU activists has hampered peace and tranquility in the district, especially when celebrations will commence from June 5.
The organisation also expressed that it will give its full cooperation for the success of the 25-year anniversary of the district.
“… the public cannot attend the ceremony heartily after the imposition of Section 144 of the CrPC. However, RBYF had appealed to the District Administration through the Deputy Commissioner to revoke the section so that the celebration can be organised in a fitting manner,” Thangkhiew said.
He added that RBYF had also urged KSU to cooperate with the administration.
However, on the railway project, RBYF in their General Council which was organised on January 28 had taken the decision to oppose it in the state until the Government come out with strong comprehensive mechanism to check influx into the State.
The organisation said if the Government ignores their demand it will resort to protests.
